A Camper’s Bicycle from 1905

In an article from the 22 Mar 1905 edition of “Cycling” a camper’s cycle is described. Although the picture is poor quality, I couldn’t find a better one, we can easily see the front and rear racks, it looks remarkably similar to a modern touring bike.

Fascinating to read that there was a special bracket to hold a milk bottle!

No mention is made of the gearing but Sturmey Archer started making their famous three speed internal hub in 1902 in Nottingham so possibly it had one of those.
