Q:  Do you have to be a cycle-camper
to join the ALC?
A:  Absolutely not!  Although some of the members who come out to meets are indeed cycle-campers, the majority come in their cars.  As long as you camp in a small tent you'll be very welcome.

Q:  How small does my tent
have to be?
A:
The ALC constitution defines a lightweight tent as being no more than 2 metres in height and with a maximum weight in the region of 2.5kg (5.5lb) plus 1.5kg (3.3lb) per person in respect of the number of persons for which is has been designed.

Q:  I don't have my own sanitation.  Can I come to your meets?
A:
ALC meets always take place on sites which have sanitation so there is no need to bring your own.  Some members choose to bring their own sanitation, and that's fine, too.

Q:  How do I pay my meet fees?
A:
Fees are usually collected by the Steward on Sunday morning (cash only, please).  You can find out what the fees will be by visiting the
Forthcoming Meets page.
Q:  How do I join?
A:
In order to join the ALC you must first be a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club.  You can find details here.
Q:  I am a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club but not a member of the ALC.  Can I come to your meets?
A:
You will be very welcome to come along to one of our meets to try us out.  However, if you are camping in anything other than a lightweight tent it is essential that you first contact the meet steward or the Sites Secretary because sometimes site restrictions apply.

Q:  Why are there no ALC meets in my area?
A:  We aim to hold meets in different parts of the country to allow as many of our members as possible to camp with us.  However, in order for a meet to take place we have to have a steward.  For a weekend meet it is not practical for a steward to travel very long distances so we are inevitably restricted as to where we can go.  The more people willing to steward a meet, the more choice we will have regarding locations.
